The Name and Why

A Simple Explanation

Mecherath: The Name

Pronounced: /mek/rath/

The History Of The Name

When we were trying to develop a commercial name for our unique software, we had a goal: To create a name like Kleenex, a brand name, and a tissue. We searched for a word with which we could define the meaning. We searched names of Greek and mythical gods, but when we would try to get the dot com name, it was already taken.

No one remembers how we stumbled across Mecherath, but we know what it means. The name is only referenced in the King James Bible and means “She Knows” or “To Sell.” This is perfect since Mecherath is a database (stores information); she knows. Additionally, we are selling a solution for contractors. A perfect fit!

The Why:  Contractors are generally very good at their trade. However, they are challenged by business.

The Simple Explanation

Contractors generally start their business one of three ways;

  1. They took over the family business. The first passing of a generational business is the most challenging. In the transition from the elder to the next generation, they often discover a lack of written systems because this is how it has always been done. This has to change, or the business usually fails.
  2. They always wanted their own business.
  3. Had enough of the person they previously worked for, whether they left or were terminated. Both scenarios two and three generally lack the same business experience, knowledge of how to run a company, and many of the business requirements.

What they all have in common.

Each of these businesses lacks business organization and systems.
Often thinking, I will get there!  But at what expense and when? The old saying, time is money, is very true. If you invest a little time into creating, or better yet, using established systems already available, it will save you time. What is the value of that time by not having to do things a slower way?   Consider Mecherath and our free 30-day trial.
